Counselling with Katrine

Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. Many of the people I work with tell me they wish they had come sooner — before things began to feel overwhelming. I see seeking support as a caring and courageous act, and my aim is to offer a space where you can slow down, breathe, and feel genuinely heard.

My own experiences of loss, grief, and significant life transitions — beginning in early childhood — have deeply shaped my understanding of attachment, relationships, and the ways we learn to connect, protect ourselves, and seek closeness over time. These experiences continue to inform how I work as a counsellor.

I don’t see my role as fixing or diagnosing, but as working alongside you in a safe, relational space where patterns of attachment, thought, and behaviour can be explored with curiosity and care. I draw on both relational counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), supporting you to understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact, and to develop practical, healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

By paying attention to your changing needs and circumstances — and how present-day difficulties may connect to earlier experiences — new possibilities can begin to emerge. This might look like greater self-awareness, more fulfilling relationships, or a kinder, more confident connection with yourself.

Outside the counselling room, I’m happiest outdoors — especially on long walks in the South Downs — and I love good food, growing vegetables, and learning about herbs. Alongside my counselling work, I also run creative support groups for teenagers who find it hard to connect and build trust with their peers, helping them build confidence, self-belief,
